As the name suggests, paint and beer are the stars of the annual Paint & Beer festival. A heady concoction of paint, aerosols and creativity explodes into color and vivid imagery onto walls and canvases at ADM Noord, turning it into a grandiose gallery within a day. With a fitting musical backdrop, the live painting is lubricated with wonderful craft beer.

The street art and graffiti event Paint & Beer built itself quite a reputation over the years. First established in 2008, the event brought together invited artists from all over Europe, from ten the first year to over a hundred at later editions. Paint & Beer started out at Villa Friekens, a large squatted industrial site in Amsterdam Noord. Its large production hall and surrounding terrain was an ideal setting for broad strokes and larger than life art pieces by visiting artists, many of whom gained fame and recognition since.
When Villa Friekens was evicted in 2016, Paint & Beer relocated to the famous ADM squat in Amsterdam’s western harbor district for its 2017 edition. When this place was evicted as well Paint & Beer was forced into a hiatus until 2020, when a condensed version was organized at Roze Tanker in Amsterdam Noord. We are excited to bring the full force of Paint & Beer to the new ADM Noord this September 17th.
During the day, while the artists are painting, visitors are welcome. There will be music from Rauwe School, tasty beer from Friekens Brouwerij, and food. Children, from toddlers to teenagers, can try their hand at street art and graffiti in their own designated area. In the evening people are invited to enjoy the spoils of the outburst of creativity, as well as an awesome musical program. On Sunday, the day after, the terrain will be open for an exhibition of the wonderful art created during this year’s Paint & Beer, as well as for the monthly ADM Market.
